It was the highly anticipated first sporting house competition of the year. Year 7, 5-a-side football tournament took place on the field, after school on Wednesday 27th September. Each house had 2 teams, and started with a friendly against each other. The format of the competition was within a league with each house playing against each other once.
Despite the bad weather, it did not dampen the mood of the competitors with lots of enthusiasm being shown. Students demonstrated a fantastic and positive attitude, conducting themselves in the correct manner. The competition was played in an excellent spirit, with lots of fair play and honesty being demonstrated throughout. Every house demonstrated excellent team work and togetherness.
There was some excellent individual performances who particularly impressed Mr Kesterton and myself, Jake Baker and Leo Smith who were excellent goalkeepers keeping their teams in the games with excellent saves. In addition to this Reece Simpson-Tidman and Naaziah Robotham, showed outstanding individual skill, scoring some excellent goals.
Once the competition got underway we seen some high scoring matches with Tolkien (X) beating Boulton (X) four nil. Another example of this but a very close match was Tolkien (Y) beating Boulton (X), by a marginal score line of 3-2.
The overall winners of the competition was Tolkien house, who performed excellently throughout. Football training for year 7 is on Thursdays after school until 4:15, with matches against other schools not too far away. All students are welcome!
